Add Remote File To Project |
|
Select the Add Remote File To Project task under the FILE TASKS task bar in the Project Manager to add a file residing on a remote machine to the current project.
If a connection has not yet been established to a remote machine, do the following steps:
Step 1
After the Add Remote File To Project task has been selected the Base Directory dialog box will appear:
Use the Base Directory dialog box to specify the location of the SLICCWARE base directory on the remote machine. An absolute or relative path may be used.
Step 2
The second step is to use the Base Directory dialog box to specify the location of the SLICCWARE base directory on the remote machine. An absolute or relative path may be used.
In the above case, a relative path is used and the SLICCWARE base directory is located in the user's home directory on the remote machine.
Step 3
The third step is to click the Connect button on the Base Directory dialog box to open the Log on To File Manager Host dialog box:
After the Connect button is clicked on the Base Directory dialog box, a telnet localhost command is executed. To begin with, log in using your username and password for the machine you are currently on:
After the connection to the local machine has been established, you can then proceed to telnet, ssh or any other type of secure connection you would like to establish with the remote host supporting the SLICCWARE FileManager.
After the connection to the remote machine has been established, click the OK button and the SLICCWARE FileManager will be started so secure transfers can ensue. If an attempt to start the filemanager fails, you will be notified. Be sure the SLICCWARE FileManager (SLICFileManager) module resides on the remote machine and the base directory was specified correctly.
Step 4
After the OK button is clicked, the Open Remote File dialog box will appear:
Use the Open Remote File dialog box to specify the file name and location on the remote machine for the file to be added to the project. Click the Open button after the file has been located to close the dialog box and transfer the file.
The file is then opened remotely and a connection has been established to a remote machine. The connection will remain open until SLICCWARE ATS is exited or if the Disconnect From Remote Machine task in the Project Manager is performed.
