Editing Packages

The PACKAGES page of the load definition file is used to define the packages and their corresponding data file sections and document scanning sections.

Use the PACKAGES task bar along the left side of the Load Definition File editor to create a new package or to activate the PACKAGES page to edit existing packages.

Packages

Packages and indexes are both dependant on the existence of data fields. The PACKAGES tasks will not be enabled in the load definition file editor until at least one data field is defined. To learn how to add a data field, see the Add Data Field section of this documentation.

Packages are simply groups of sections, which are used to facilitate entering data into the system. While sections have no direct effect on the organization of the data-store or indexes, grouping sections into packages directly influences the organization of both the data-store and indexes.

If a package exists, select Edit Existing Package from the PACKAGES task bar to activate the PACKAGES page to edit the packages:

The PACKAGES page is a tabulated page. Each tab represents a package defined for the load definition file. When you create a new package a new tab is added, identified by the package name. Each load definition file must contain at least one package and each package must contain at least one section. The screen shot above has two packages defined: LocalPDF and Package_2. Package_2 is the active package.

Two different section types are available depending on the type of data that is to be defined. The top list on a package tab page identifies the data file sections and the bottom list identifies the document scanning sections that are included in the package. The above screen shot defines one data file section in Package_2.

Below the section lists is the name, if one exists, of the primary index for that particular package. Only one primary index may be assigned to a package. The screen shot about indicates a geo-spatial index called _Location_geo is the primary index for this package.

Along the right side of the PACKAGES page are the task bars specific to package editing. The top task bar is the PACKAGES task bar which is used to add and remove packages. The task bar below the PACKAGES task bar is the DF SECTIONS task bar which is used to add, delete and edit data file sections. The task bar below the DF SECTIONS task bar is the DS SECTIONS task bar which is used to add, delete and edit document scanning sections.

The following describes the task bars along the right side of the PACKAGES page in better detail:
